For my signature assignment I wrote three essays and a reflection of the entire semester. The three essays include: a report, a position/proposal, and a review. All of these assignments focus on my topic I have had over the semester: the legalization of marijuana.
English 1010
Reflection:
My 'aha' moment for English 1010 was finding out how easy it was to describe the same setting in two totally different viewpoints. For my signature assignment I wrote of a scene at a park in both positive and negative attitudes. I used connotative words and figurative language to better describe either the good or bad aspects of the park. I then reflected on what I wrote and explained specific examples of what I did in my essay. What I found was adding or neglecting certain details here and there could totally change how the scene is perceived. I also learned of how my attitude toward life at certain points in time can change how I feel about different settings. When I'm upset I tend to focus on the negative, for example in the park I focused on the big trash cans sitting next to me. When I'm happy, on the other hand, I focus on the positive aspects, such as in the park I focused on the children having fun in the park.
